ABOUT ME

Hello there! I'm Valerie, 18 years young. I live in Amsterdam. I have a lot of hobbies. My main ones are:
drawing, writing, reading, listening to music, going to concerts and just being creative! I grew up with a lot of 90's songs, went through a metal phase and ended up liking BTS! I watched a lot of English movies when I was little, hence why I'm fluent in the English language. I sometimes find it very difficult to use my creativity and make my own original ideas. Most of the time I end up mimicking someone else's drawings. But I really want to learn how to make my own stuff! Alright, let's go ahead and take a look at some of my work!

'PRESSURE'

This drawing is called pressure. I made it some time ago.
The idea of it is that the person (you may see this as yourself or a random individual) feels pressured by the air.
The air to me is our community.
The feeling like you're being held back from what you're capable of.
The feeling like they're taking over.
If you look carefully, you can see that the individual is being wiped away.
It's an depressing subject, but it's an eye opener of how the world is.


'MARNIE'

I am in love with anime.
I think that it's really cool how the creators can create such smooth animations.
And the way they draw is beautiful. There is this anime
movie called 'When Marnie Was There'.
I was so touched by the story of the movie, that I really
wanted to draw the character Marnie.
So I did!





'EYE SEE YOU'

I love to draw eyes!
Realistic ones are still a bit difficult for me, so right now I'm sticking to the anime style eyes.
Sometimes when I'm bored, you can find me doodling eyes
in my notebook haha.








'FLOWER ILLUSION'

This is a painting I made.
I used a string with paint to make the flowers.
It's a bit of an optical illusion actually, because you can't
really see which way the flower goes.
I went a little bit crazy after a while though and just started splashing paint everywhere.






'NOT YOUR BUSINESS'

For a project for school, I had to make a logo.
The project was to make my own business and incorporate
a business plan.
My business was called Valerie Creates.
I tried to make a logo with a kind of creative theme.
That's when this logo was born!






'SWEATER WEATHER'

This is a drawing a made a pretty long time ago. I think that
I saw this online somewhere and started to draw it.










'THE ENDLESS SKIES'

I am in love with the sky. I don't know why, but the look of it amazes me. When I saw that the sky was such a beautiful
pink color, I immediately took this picture!








'STRENGHT OF FLOWERS'

Flowers are beautiful. There are different kinds, colors,
shapes. Every time I see a flower, I can't help but to take a picture.








'TIME STOP!'

While I was walking outside, I noticed that it was raining.
But even though the rain poured out of the clouds, the sun
was still shining. I decided to take a picture. When I looked
at it, I realized that it looked like the time had stopped! You
can see the rain and the sunshine. I think that it's beautiful.






'JUST A DRAWING'

I made this drawing just for fun.










'DON'T LET ME DROWN'

I am fan of a band called 'Bring Me The Horizon'. They have
a very good song called 'Drown'. I saw this drawing online,
and decided to draw it as well.








'ANIME DRAWING'

Like I've said before, I am a major anime fan. There is an
anime called 'Blue Exorcist' and the character I drew is
Rin Okumura. I have a poster on my wall with him on it,
that's where the image came from.







'THE GALAXY'

I love the galaxy! I didn't know what to paint, so I just decided
to paint the galaxy.









'GRADIENT SHAPES'

Another painting. I saw something similar to this online and
I really wanted to try it out. So I did!









'REALISTIC EYE'

I saw this online and I decided to draw
it, because I wanted to try to make a realistic eye. It's a
digital drawing. I think that it turned out pretty good!








'THORNS'

I was trying to draw something, but I had no ideas at all.
But then I had an idea of a hand holding a rose, with
thorns wrapped around the arm. I'm pretty bad at drawing
hands, so I did look up some reference pictures.
In the end I was pretty happy with the results.






'RIVER'

I was on my way home, when I saw a perfect picture opportunity. So I took this picture!









'CHOOSE YOUR PATH'

I think that railways are a perfect representation of life.
When you step in the metro or train, you choose which way
you go and where you get out again. In life, you are exposed
to so many different choices. All with different outcomes. I
saw this railway with all the different paths at the end and I
immediately thought of this. I wanted to capture it, so I did.





'FLOWER'

'ORCHID'

I took a picture of this orchid, because I love to take
pictures of flowers and this one had such a beautiful color.
